There's no reason why this should happen – especially when flooding is so predictable. Contact Tidal Wave Response as quickly as possible when you require water damage removal.
When you live in a house that has a basement, you are exposed to flooding risks. These can be mild or severe, depending on the nature of the problem. If your basement floods regularly, you may have to move out of your home or lose everything.
When talking about basement flooding, there are two primary causes: wet weather and dry weather. Wet weather can cause flooding due to heavy rains and snow melt. Dry weather can cause flooding due to blockages in sewer lines, water supply lines, and other underground pipes. Both types of flooding can occur any time during the year, but they are more common during the rainy season.
Basement flooding can occur in any type of home. It is not just a problem that affects older houses. There are several different causes of basement flooding.
Flooding during dry weather is typically caused by poor foundation drainage. The water table in many areas rises to the surface during heavy rains or melting snow. This water can find its way into your basement if there are cracks or holes in your foundation walls or floor. If you have cracked walls or floors in your basement, it's important to seal them as soon as possible before any further damage is done to your home.
A blocked or failed sewer line, a broken water supply line, a hot water tank, and a foundation drainage failure. These problems can occur without warning and cause extensive damage to your property. If you suspect your home is experiencing any of these problems, contact Tidal Wave Response immediately.
Hi. I don’t know where to start. John and Tidal wave his company were and still are a blessing from my Lord. One morning in January of this year I went down stairs and stepped in a puddle of water it was flooded. I also passed out. This was the second one in less than a year. I stood there for a minute and just cried. All I could think of was my insurance company may not take care of it a second time even if it was for a different leak. The last claim they paid out $23,000 for…

I have worked in sales and also have experience in launching my own business. It is rare that you find a company that genuinely has your best interest in mind. Not only was John helpful outside of his business’ expertise, but he sent Chris to do a *free* evaluation of our water damage. John and Chris were both genuine and personable. They cared about what our situation was and they weren’t looking to get any sort of “fee” for their time. These are the kind of people you trust to handle big, catastrophic water damage to. I have previously had…
While others might categorize John as a fast talker, but on the other hand. I saw a man that's passionate about his business and willing to help others elevate their present situation. In early December 2022, our laundry room floor and wall got water damaged due to leakage from the hotline pipe, and other rooms got impacted due to water spreading. So, I reached out to John and he assured me they'll do everything within their power to get our house done before Christmas day. Boy was he right! John and the tidalwave response team were professional, helpful and got…
We did not plan to renovate our terrace level but when the hot water heater leaked and flooded the entire area, Tidal Wave was recommended to us by the plumber who installed the new hot water heater. John, the owner was at our house the same evening and mitigation started early the next morning. The crew professionally removed wet drywall, flooring, and baseboard. Fans and dehumidifiers ran for several days and then the fun began. With Colin's help we were able to choose updated flooring, repaint a color of our choice, and new trim was installed. Everything was completed professionally.…

I had a flood in my downstairs living room. It was devastating. John with Tidal wave was very professional. He had his team show up immediately to get the job done. Great work Tidal Wave. I'm definitely going to refer you to others.
Thank Goodness !!! Johnny on the spot! We had a pipe ruptured in the ceiling and we were looking for a 5 Star Rated Water Restoration company . Johnny came out with a Thermal Camera and found the pipe spraying behind the wall. I wish I would have called him sooner . My wood floors were so damaged by the water, they all will need to be replaced. We highly recommended Johnny with Tidal Wave. Very knowledgeable and even helped us start a claim with our insurance ..
Had a shaky start with this particular project but I must say the owner took charge and corrected all the remaining issues. I will say that this particular job was the absolute worst I have taken on in 45 yrs. My hat is off to Mike and his crew and Allan was superb in making sure everything was done correctly. Thank you for your follow-up on this project guys. And Allan thank you especially for your thoroughness in making sure it was completed correctly.
Unfortunately, my water heater was old, cracked, and leaking water onto the supported area in my garage. I needed to replace the water heater with a new one, but the plumber told me that in order to meet the city code, I would have to handle the water damage first. I called out tidal wave (who I’ve worked with before), and they came out the very next day to cut out the affected area and treat for mold. This is my second issue with water in my house and tidal wave has taken care of both issues. They are fast,…
This is one of the most common causes of basement flooding. A failing foundation drain is a crack or gap in the foundation wall that allows water to seep into your basement. With time, this can cause rot, mold, and mildew growth, as well as structural damage to your home.
If your water supply line to the house has failed, the pressure will drop, and the water will stop flowing. The next time you turn on a faucet, the water may not come out at all, or it will come out slowly. If this happens at night when no one is home, there could be flooding in your basement before you know it.
The first sign of a hot water tank failure is often no hot water in any faucets or showerheads. When this happens in wintertime with temperatures below freezing outside, it's more likely that you'll notice right away because the cold temperature will feel strange to take a shower in. However, if it's summertime with temperatures above 90°F outside (or even mild), you might not realize there's anything wrong until after you've taken a shower or two and try to take another one!
You may have a wet basement during wet weather because the ground around your house is simply saturated. But more often, water enters your basement through some other source.
The most common cause of wet basements is overland flooding. This happens when rainwater flows into your yard and then into your basement. To prevent overland flooding, landscape accordingly and ensure you have proper gutters and downspouts.
Another common cause of wet basements is drainage failure in the foundation walls or floor drains. If there is no longer any way for water to leave the basement, it will stay there and eventually leak through the foundation wall or floor drain into the basement itself. You'll need professional help to fix this problem, but first, make sure there isn't another cause — such as a clogged drain — before proceeding with repairs.
Seepage occurs when water seeps through cracks in your soil and into small openings in your foundation walls, such as cracks around utility lines or pipes, joints between concrete blocks or brick veneers, and even around windowsills and doorsills where concrete meets wood framing materials.
Suppose you need to install a sump pump in your basement. In that case, you may be at risk for a flood if heavy rain washes away earth near your foundation walls allowing groundwater to flow directly into your basement, forming a pond below ground level, which can fill up very quickly, causing water to rise quickly inside.
Weeping tiles are an important part of a basement waterproofing system. They are designed to release any water that gets into the basement and prevent it from seeping up into the house through the floor. Weeping tiles should be installed outside the foundation wall at least six inches below grade (the bottom of your yard). They can be made of concrete or plastic. They're usually installed when you build your house or when you have a new addition put on it. When they fail, you get flooding.
Having to deal with a flooded basement is no fun, especially when you can't tell when the next rainy days are coming. Although there are many reasons a basement might flood, the worst thing that can happen is when water and mud come rushing in while you're away from home. The first sign of flooding may be an odor or wet flooring and suddenly rising water levels.
Unfortunately, this can also mean that the cause is due to heavy rains over an extended period of time, which is nearly impossible to predict and causes damage fast!
